Skills Bootcamp in Civil Engineering, Groundworks and Plant Operations

Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life.  Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills.

Working in partnership with Devon County Council, we can provide this free training to individuals (aged 19+) who live in Devon*1 and financial support to companies who are based in Devon*1 and seeking to upskill staff in Level 2 Civil Engineering and Groundwork Skills (including plant operations).

  • Funding available, depending on where you live
  • Fully funded for self-employed individuals
  • Enhanced Site-Ready Training
  • Civil Engineering NVQ included
  • CSCS and CPCS Card on Achievement (ride on roller, forward tipping dumper, or Slinger)
  • Delivered at employer’s premises (flexible delivery models)
  • NVQ achieved while staff are at work and earning
  • Duration – 16 weeks
  • Assessors will guide and support staff through the NVQ process
  • Employer contribution dependent on the size of the organisation

All candidates receive a Skills Bootcamp in Civil Engineering and Groundworks Level 2 Qualification while obtaining their Blue Skilled CSCS Worker Card and Red CPCS Trained Operator Card accreditation.

Our 16-week Skills Bootcamp in Civil Engineering and Groundworks course covers:

Part A

Introduction to Health & Safety in Construction
Environmental Awareness in Construction
All resources provided
Delivered remotely

Part B

Introduction Modules and Awareness Training
All resources provided
Delivered by face-to-face training*

Part C

Completion of the NVQ in Construction Operations
Flexible delivery model on site

Part D

CPCS or NPORS Course (one of the following:)
Machine categories available include:
Ride on Roller
Forward Tipping Dumpers
Telehandler
Slinger
Delivered by face-to-face training*
Local test centre

*1 Devon includes the Plymouth and Torbay unitary authorities

*2 Employees must attend the training sessions to complete the course
